Interesting recent project involving, water slide decals, the traveling fad of the early to mid 1900’s still finding its place in modern traveling. Nowadays decals are in the form of vinyl window clings and the like, a quick peel off backing and stick it on. There is something special about the old school water slide decal, a slight art to putting them on without wrinkles, letting them soak in water for just the right time, and distinctive joy that comes from a job well done.
I have been working on a project restoring some vintage decals to their former glory with modern printing techniques and the same time honored process of application. I just had the first batch come out flawlessly and can’t wait to offer them to others. Below is an example of a reproduced water slide decal from the old PirateLand in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
